F0031 · The Voices of the Cavern

F0031 · The Maroon Kingdom / Outside time

Scene date undetermined · The cavern; recollections of Damascus

Farid felt the very walls of the cavern whispering ancient stories to him. The blue light emanating from the blocks of turquoise not only cast light but seemed to carry an echo of the past, as though time had left its trace in every crack in the stone. In the clearing, as the blue-green fire danced before him, Farid was certain he was no mere spectator: the fire challenged him, invited him into a silent dialogue that could change his fate. Every step he took along the river was an act of resistance against the questions he could not answer. As he advanced, images of Damascus mingled with the feeling of being trapped in an eternal cycle, as though beginning and end were one and the same, intertwined in the flow of the water and the shadows of the trees.
